Giving Thanks...

It is amazing how quickly a soul can get dried out and shriveled. In an effort to combat the discontent that tends to seep in from all sides I have found it extremely helpful to give thanks. Not just in a general food, clothing, loved ones sort of way, but really specifically.

Reading One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp hit me at just the right place in my spirit. She also gave me some ideas for how to include the kids in heartful adventure:
How to help raise grateful kids
Periodically at the dinner table we'll take turns writing (or drawing) a list of things we're thankful for. Even Jelly Bean is old enough to join in.

Once the kids get in a groove they are usually the ones to remind us to do a list. I love this one that Moose did one day at lunch on his own. Spanish for "Thank you Jesus for raising the world."
