Happy New Year!

We had a great time New Years' Eve at Jim and Erin's. It was inspiring seeing their new home and daunting to realize how much work they had done to get it looking so hip. (I just realized I don't have a picture of our hosts. Oops!)

Ah, to Ski

Tyler and I vacillated back and forth about whether or not we should ski when while we were in Colorado. Of course, we wanted to (we hadn't skied in 2 years), but we weren't sure about dragging all our ski stuff to CO and the expense.

We decided to go for it and I am so glad we did. After having lived in Breck we had become snow and crowd snobs, but I so desperately wanted to ski that I was ready for average conditions and standing in lift lines. I love being in the mountains so much I figured at least that objective would be achieved by going to Cooper.

Our day of skiing with my dad was fabulous! The snow was great and it kept snowing the whole day which kept the crowds down. I was encouraged that I slowly remembered what I was doing flying down the slopes and even managed to do a decent job in the bumps. By the end of the day I was exhausted and happy with a happiness that only high altitude sports can bring.

Good Friends

One of our favorite parts of visiting Colorado is seeing college friends. We had a great dinner at Patrick and Marcy's house along with Jonathan and Paige. I loved playing hide-and-seek with Mia and Sophie.

We also got to see Brad Hurst and his wife, Megan. My parents actually moved into the neighborhood where Brad grew up, so we are just a short walk away.

We drove up to Fort Collins with Dale and Kelli to see Dusty and Ashley's new baby, Natalie. Natalie is so beautiful she has helped sway Tyler to being more open to having another child. Fort Collins always makes me wish I lived in Colorado. It is hard to tell how much is notasligia and how much is Fort Collins itself.

Is there a Doctor in the house?

The boys had a great time keeping everyone healthy with my dad's medical kit. For a small fee they will check your heart, apply a band aid, and give you about 8 shots. (The syringes fascinated both boys and the pressure they applied on your leg made it hurt almost as much as a real shot. At least, we were the guinea pigs and they left each other alone.) Unfortunately, their medical care did not prevent an attack of the stomach flu. I went down first, followed by BiggiE, then my mom and now Moose. If we saw you over Christmas you may want to boost up on your probiotics and Airborne.
