Tyler Gets Published!

I am a proud wife that just had to let you know that Tyler was recently published in a wine magazine. The editor saw his blog and asked him to write an opinion piece and another article on different ways to add oak to wine. His second article just came out this month and there is something really thrilling about seeing the hardcopy of the work of someone you know.

Hey, Mama, It's Me...

Last night I heard a stream of continuous coughing coming from the boys' room and I went in with a cup of water. I asked Moose if he wanted a drink and he said he didn't. When I left the room I heard more coughing and realized that it was actually BiggiE. The boys have practically the same voice and often the only way I can tell them apart is their verbal abilities. That little trick is going to disappear soon because BiggiE is really proficient for his nearly two-years-of-age.

Tyler and his younger brother, Drew, have the same voice, as well. One time, Tyler left a message on our home phone and later when I was playing the message Tyler asked, "When did Drew call?" Um, honey, that's you. I guess we shouldn't worry about not being able to tell them apart if they can't do it themselves.

I have a glimpse of my future because Tyler and Drew will call their mom and say, "Hey, Mama, it's me," and then launch into conversation. My mother-in-law has told me that she just goes along for a couple minutes looking for identifying markers so she will know which son she is talking to. I wonder how many times parents' of twins don't know which twin is standing in front of them?

Books We Love

I love finding books the boys love. Two of these our friends shared with us and one we heard at the library story hour. We are always up for a good book. Any you and your kids love you could recommend?

Is Tyler a Comma?

You Are a Question Mark

You seek knowledge and insight in every form possible. You love learning.

And while you know a lot, you don't act like a know it all. You're open to learning you're wrong.

You ask a lot of questions, collect a lot of data, and always dig deep to find out more.

You're naturally curious and inquisitive. You jump to ask a question when the opportunity arises.

Your friends see you as interesting, insightful, and thought provoking.

(But they're not always up for the intense inquisitions that you love!)

You excel in: Higher education

You get along best with: The Comma

Spring in the Wine Country

I am often struck by the beauty of where we live. It occurred to me last summer that I live in a place where people come on vacation. It is such a blessing and so easy to take for granted. I hope that Moose and BiggiE will be able to appreciate the natural beauty of where they live, too. Spring is a wonderful time of year wherever you live, so I wanted to celebrate Spring with a few pictures I snagged from other photographers. I often think I should pull off the road and snap a few pictures, but have yet to do it, so here is the work of professionals.

31 Flavors

I had such a nice birthday this year. My friend, Alison, arranged to have her teenage son hang out at my house while the boys napped so that she and I could go for a hike and a picnic. This picture does not do justice for all the wildflowers are in bloom.

Tyler and the boys made me a Boston Cream Pie to celebrate my big day and it was delicious. I am not a Boston Cream Pie expert, but the vanilla cake, vanilla cream all covered in chocolate seems like a winning combination to me.
